Two bomb blasts injure 5 people in Hat Yai

Witnesses said two bombs went off simultaneously in front of a local police flat on Petchkasem Road and in front of a 7-11 shop downtown. A car parked nearby has burst into flame from the blast.

Police rushed to inspect the crime scenes and said that around four to five people have been injured in the attack.

Roads near Khor Hong and Punnakan intersections have been sealed off as security forces search the area for more bombs.

In 2012, a series of car bombs have killed 13 people and injured more than 500 in Hat Yai, the largest city in southern Thailand and a popular destination for tourists from neighbouring Malaysia and Singapore.
